Week of December 3: Wanted: SLEEP

Thankfully, I feel as though I am turning a corner physically, aside from lack of shut-eye, and actually have been walking more and more each day. I have been eating almonds like crazy…just to wake up and feel like I have energy! Between my gluten allergy, and having to stay away from certain foods when breastfeeding…I am trying to be vigilant about what goes into my body. I feel as though I could eat all day long! This milk- business is no joke.

My parents have been in town, and have been incredible both at taking care of me, and Grace and Taylor. My mom made me scrambled eggs this morning, and I promise, they were the best I have ever had. We took a trip to this fountain park today, and ate lunch outside. It was the longest trip I have taken yet with Taylor, and it took me longer to get everything I needed packed than we were out! I kept running in and out of the car, and my parents kept running into the house for me…as I apparently thought we were packing for a week! Hats, blankets, binkys, snacks, water, keys, phone, baby carrier, stroller, sunshade, sunblock, baby! By the time I started the engine, I just about gave in and decided not to go!

Taylor is doing well. He is over his birth-weight, and hungry too! Today he looked at me, and for the first time I felt as though he actually saw me, his mommy, not just a shape, or contrast. Grace woke up this morning and was overjoyed to see him! She is continuing to adjust as well as I could have hoped. Just the other day, when she was sitting with him on her lap, he began to cry- She immediately said, "Okay, Okay mommy is here."- and proceeded to pull down her tank top as if she was going to feed him! If only I could get to the camera in time!!!

Grace has been wondering why Taylor's belly button looks like it does since he came home. I told her that it was a belly button cord, and that soon it would fall off, then it would look just like hers. A couple of days ago, I caught her peeking through the snaps of his onsie. She looked up and said, "Mommy! It fell off!". I checked, and sure enough, it had. The only problem was that I could not find the little stump anywhere. Later that night…after dinner- Grace yelled-"THERE IT IS!!" I had no idea what she was talking about until I looked over. Sure enough, right there on the floor- was the cord. Oddly, it was both cute and gross at the same time. I was caught somewhere between wanting to save it and wanting to vacuum it!

Come back the week of Dec. 10th to see what happens next on our children-filled, sleep-deprived adventure!
