Frequently Asked Questions
-
How is Dreft formulated for baby laundry needs?
The Dreft® formula is designed to not only help fight tough baby and toddler stains, but also provide a gentle clean for baby.

Yes. The Dreft® formula is appropriate for all of your family's laundry needs.
-
Is Dreft recommended by anyone other than the manufacturer?
Pediatricians recommend Dreft® for use with baby laundry more than any other laundry detergent.
-
How long should I use Dreft for my child's laundry?
Dreft can be used for the first 18 months to 2 years. This will vary, of course, based on your laundry habits.
-
What's the difference between non-concentrated and 2X Concentrated Dreft?
2X Concentrated Dreft gives you the same gentle clean while allowing you to only use half as much. And, 2X Concentrated Dreft is packaged using up to 43% less plastic than non-concentrated Dreft. So you get the same Dreft clean in smaller, more convenient bottles.
-
Where can I find 2x Concentrated Dreft?
Currently 2X Concentrated Dreft has limited availability. If it is not at your local retailer, it will be arriving in your area soon. Where available, you’ll find 2X Concentrated Dreft in the laundry aisle and wherever Dreft products are sold.
-
Do I need to dilute 2X Concentrated Dreft?
You do not need to dilute 2X Concentrated Dreft before use. Simply follow the product instructions on the packaging.
-
Do you make Dreft dryer sheets?
We do not make a Dreft® dryer sheet. In fact, we caution against using any fabric softener on children's sleepwear or other garments labeled as flame resistant as it may reduce flame resistance. Since we're always looking for ways to improve our products or create new ones, we invite you to share your ideas about our other products by emailing us.
-
Which should I use - liquid or powder?
Liquid detergents are better at removing oily and greasy stains and are excellent for pretreating stains. Powder detergents work better on mud and clay. It's really a matter of choosing the one that best meets your needs, but you might want to keep both on hand!
-
Can I use Dreft in a High Efficiency (HE) washer?
We don't recommend using Dreft in a high efficiency (HE) washing machine. HE machines need low sudsing detergents and if regular detergent is used, the excess suds could lead to washer problems. Unfortunately, just using a smaller amount of regular detergent does not fix the issue. Only the use of a HE detergent ensures the proper performance of your washer.
If you have an HE washing machine, look for 2x Ultra Tide HE Free, which is made without dyes or perfumes.

How do I get the best cleaning performance for my laundry?
We suggest these steps to achieve the best cleaning results:
- Sort your clothes before laundering and wash similar colors together.
- Pretreat obvious stains. (see our Laundry Tips)
- Always follow fabric care tag laundering instructions.
- Use the warmest water safe for garments (be sure to check care tags).
- The way you fill your machine is also important. We suggest that you:
- Start the water in your washer.
- Add Dreft®
- Then add clothes.
- Use the amount of Dreft recommended. Use more Dreft if you have very hard water, large loads, heavy soils or a large capacity washer.
- Do not overload your washer or dryer.
-
Can I wash in cold water?
Sure! Our detergents offer great cleaning in cold water. As with any detergent, use the warmest water recommended by the garment manufacturer. For best results on oily/greasy stains, use warmer water.
